Helping Hand Scholarship

Provided by Alpha Rho Alumni Association

Description:
The Helping Hand Scholarship is awarded by the Alpha Rho Alumni Association of Theta Chi Fraternity, Inc. to select outstanding students at the University of Washington. To extend a “Helping Hand” has been the official motto of Theta Chi Fraternity since its founding on April 10, 1856 at Norwich University. Theta Chi’s maxim, “Alma Mater first and Theta Chi for Alma Mater,” refers to some of the key founding ideals of the Fraternity: loyalty to one’s college or university and academic achievement. The name for the Helping Hand Scholarship, therefore, is inspired by our motto and maxim. The scholarship’s purpose is to lend a Helping Hand in the form of a scholarship to undergraduates who demonstrate outstanding personal, philanthropic and academic achievement; and to promote such achievement in the future.
