The Washington Chapter AY Scholarship is sponsored by Chapter AY of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Tacoma. P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization that promotes educational opportunities for women. In awarding scholarships, Chapter AY's scholarship committee will consider academic merit, financial need, career goals, and service to others, as demonstrated by the applicant’s work or family history and/or community service activities. The candidate must be a United States citizen and from the Puget Sound area (raised in the area, a present resident of the area, or a full-time student in the area), a high school graduate or equivalent, a matriculated student currently attending an accredited school of higher education and is within two years of completing her degree (by June 2018), has completed at least one semester or two quarters of post high school education at time of application, will be enrolled as a FULL-TIME student (as defined by the applicant’s school) in an accredited school for the fall term and has a 3.0 or above G.P.A. (4.0 scale) for all college work taken in the past four years.
