Abbot Baran and Abbot Roth Scholarships

Provided by Rebecca Byrne

Benedictine identity stresses the importance of community, living a balanced life, hospitality and generosity of spirit. To this end, Saint Martin’s University (Lacey, WA) will be awarding up to four full-tuition, need-based scholarships to the 2018 entering class to students from Washington Catholic High Schools. This scholarship, named after our first and current abbots and university chancellors, will be renewable for four years assuming the student maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA at full time enrollment (12 credits a semester). There is an expectation that students will live on campus for the four years they are attending Saint Martin’s to provide leadership and positively impact the campus. The “Abbot” scholars will be asked to contribute an average of five hours a week as a servant leader involved in service back to Saint Martin’s. Each year will incorporate different forms of service to Saint Martin’s.
